F.A.Q.
Why take a progressive dance class @ DDC?
Almost all classes at DDC are progressive dance courses. We believe that progressive courses are the best way to learn dance, as it requires a commitment and ensures that you learn each dance style in a fun, easy stepwise manner. Aside from the great workout you get from any dance class, you will become proficient in the style, get to know your teacher, and learn the technique necessary for your chosen style of dance. In addition, you will be learning, improving, making friends, and getting in shape!
I can’t commit to a progressive course. Can I still take class @ DDC?
Absolutely! We welcome drop-ins at any time to all of our progressive dance courses. Taking regular classes will help you improve your dancing the fastest. However, if you are unable to do so, DDC offers great class card options and unlimited packages to suit your needs. We understand that people may travel for work or have other obligations, so we like to be as flexible as possible. If you are concerned about being behind in any class, just call DDC at 604.563.5057 and the office staff can let you know what the situation is for the class you are interested in.
What should I wear to class?
For all classes, dress comfortably in something that you can move in. For street-style classes (e.g., hip hop, break dancing), sweats and clean runners are typically worn. For our more classical dance classes (e.g., ballet, contemporary) jazz shoes, foot undies and ballet slippers are appropriate. If you are unsure of what to wear for class, DDC has clothing for all styles of dance available for purchase at the studio.
What kinds of people take drop-in classes @ DDC?
DDC students come from a wide range of backgrounds, from those with little to no experience to working professionals in the dance industry. For adult progressive classes, our students vary in age from late teens to middle-aged, but there is no limit. Dance is the language of the soul – you are never too old (or young) to start dancing and express yourself!
Do I need a partner for partner dancing courses/classes?
No partners are necessary to take part in the course. However, pre-registration is suggested so that we know who is taking the course and can make sure everyone has a good time!
